2004年にコンフォートマートが始まって以来、ずっと考えていた事があります。それはお持ち込み頂く家具の修理／修復です。お店に立っていたり、電話に出たりすると、お客様から「家具修理はやってくれませんか？」とよく尋ねられます。ずっと、断っていました。その理由は色々あるのですが、行き着くところ「仕上がりに自信が持てない」ということのようだった気がします。限られた時間の中で、そして失敗の許されない仕事に対する覚悟が出来ていなかったのだと思います。技術も上がり、設備も整った今、修理／修復の覚悟ができてきました。

私達は海外に出掛け、古い家具を買い付けて来ます。家具を選ぶための様々な基準がありますが、その中で譲れない基準が多々あります。その中の1つが「私達に修理／修復ができる状態か？」です。基本的に直せない家具はありません。

ですが、「商売」という枠の中では限られた時間、そして労力に見合うだけの価値が直された家具に付くのか、ということがすごく重要な基準になります。例えば売値50,000円の家具に対して、人が2人で10日もかけてやっていては商売になりません。買い付けに行くと、「趣味だったら、どんどんやるのに」と思う状態の「ヤレた家具」が沢山あります。ヤレた家具はゴミとなり、地球環境を侵す事になります。私達がたまに行くリサイクルセンターにはまだまだ使える家具が山のように捨てられています。その中には、「直し手がいないから」との理由で捨てられた家具も沢山あるのではないかと思います。直したい家具にはその家具を使っていた人の歴史や思いがぎゅっと詰まっている気がします。そんな家具がヤレた家具として扱われ、そして地球環境を侵す事になるなんていたたまれない気分になります。

皆さんの思いの詰まった家具を修理／修復させて頂きます。

徐々にお受けできる範囲を広げて行く予定でありますが、お店用の家具の修理／修復に支障が出ない程度でまずは進めさせて頂いております。「この家具はどうしても修理／修復を」とのお声を頂きました際には喜んで症状を見させて頂いております。家具の修理／修復の是非、そしてお見積もりをさせて頂く際、現物を見てみないと判断がつかない場合が殆どでございます。お手数をお掛けして大変申し訳ございませんが、正確なお見積もり等がご入用の場合はお店まで現物をお持ち頂くか、或はお近くでございましたら、お時間を調整させて頂きお伺いさせて頂きます。

Since 2004 when Comfort Mart opened, one thing we have been thinking about is to repair customers’ furniture. We have been asked many times if the furniture at home can be repaired. We have kindly turned down these requests. That is partly because we couldn't’ be proud of our refurbishment skills. We are so proud of our skills to refurbish the Scandinavian vintage pieces which we have developed over years. Since many years passed, we are now confident in serving general furniture refurbishment.

We make a business buying trip to Denmark and Sweden several times a year. There are some criteria which we keep in mind when we pick up vintage pieces. The most important criterion among others is if we can refurbish it in a given time and budget. Since we are in business, we do not do the refurbishment for fun. Everything we do is for real. With this criterion, there are a lot of pieces we have to give up to take. We feel sad every time we come across this situation. The pieces out of our selection might to be thrown away and cause the global warming after burning. We even feel sadder when we think about it.

Sometimes we go to a recycling center to dispose furniture which has ended its product life. In there. we see a lot of pieces which could be still usable with the little care. And those pieces might have been thrown away because a user couldn’t find people to repair. Then we always think “we could have done something about this". This thought has been pilled up over years in our minds.

The pace we take the repair work from you is very slow because we still have to prioritize the refurbishment of our own vintage pieces. But please call us or visit us if you can’t find a place to get the repair work done near you. We will help you. There are pieces which require the higher skills than we have. Then we tell you what we can do. Please think of us before you decide to throw away the pieces which you don’t want to throw away.
